Roots

Assumptions and expectations are our weapons of choice
Holding on fiercely to misconceptions sacrificing our voice
For everything we are willing to let go
We’ll receive unlimited gifts
Priceless prizes unknown
Unimaginable because our sight is so inpaired
Feeling determined by thoughts that we wanted to hear
It sounded familiar so elicited less fear
No time like now to grin and bear
A new path to take
Adventures uphill
The pain in may body
Hold stories untold
Forsaking my true self
Never so bold
Other stories replaying
Encoded in me
Patterns not broken
Just bending the weak
Pain is a sign of our will not yet known
Suppressed by those who have power
Resistance that has grown
Strong is the will
Of a collective devine
Not confined by the myth of time
Here now there then
Today is the day that it has to end
Our will is misleading
Will power too strong
Spirit guides whisper answers to questions not yet asked
Price too high not to follow directions
A path less taken unsound
Serenity and grace all around
Dignity forfeited at the gates untraced
Destiny permitting
Instincts sublime
Elevated together
Stand up for your convictions now
Seeded in your mind
The roots are deeper once the weather is stormed
Garden of pure delight
Fruits of our labor
A labor of love
Failure fuels a desire to be better
Ascend above petty chaos
Challenges are
encouragement
Second third fourth chances to get it right
Four left turns back to where we start
Learning to be still
Finding light in the dark
Conserving energy for the tasks that matter
Honoring the people we care about
Precious cargo that gives life meaning
All of the things that sets us apart
Uniquely broken
Special beyond words
Mended with unity
Love is an action
Show up be heard
